Government National Pupil Premium Award 2016
National Winners for Infant, First and KS3 schools

Greenfylde C of E First School

On the 12th May 2016, we were thrilled when Greenfylde were announced as the National winners in the Government’s Pupil Premium Awards. This is an outstanding achievement for the school and the first time a Somerset school has been a National winner. The award is testament to the effort and enthusiasm shown by all the staff, children, Governors, parents and wider community in ensuring the children from the Ilminster area are afforded the best possible opportunities for their futures.
Although the Pupil Premium awards celebrate disadvantaged pupils including forces children, looked after/adopted children and those who have/have had free school meals it was noted that Greenfylde’s provision also directly improves the opportunities for all children in the school, something the Government is now looking to achieve in all schools.

News Description
Greenfylde enjoyed another successful sporting outing this week when the football team played away at Hinton St George. The team performed brilliantly, passing lots and working well as a team.
Our annual visit by Life Education gave an exciting first week back to the Spring Term. Children discussed a range of issues relating to PSHE (Personal Social and Health Education) and of course got to see Harold the Giraffe again.
On a day where we all met Father Christmas in his grotto we also helped raise £222 for Save the Children's Christmas Jumper Day.
