Welcome to Greenfylde First School ​

We are currently showing parents around looking for entry to Reception in September 2019.

  In the event of bad weather causing the school to close a notice will be posted here.  In addition, announcements of closures will be on BBC Somerset Radio (95.5FM) and Heart FM (102)

Thursday 7th November - Tuesday 13th November Book Fair on the playground after school


Maths Week w/c 12th November
Wednesday 14th November, Years 1 and 2- singing maths songs in hall at 9.10 -9.30
Thursday 15th November Reception classes – come see the wonderful maths we are doing! 2.50-3.20
Friday 16th November, Years 3 and 4 – Using online websites and games to improve maths fluency 9.00-9.30.

Monday 12th November – FrOGS meeting, 7pm in the Purple Pod, all welcome and it would be great to see some more new members for our PTFA.

Tuesday 13th November – Reception cake sale with FrOGS on the playground after school. Please can any Reception families donate cakes for this event which can be brought to the Purple Pod on Tuesday morning, thank you.

Thursday 15th November – final day to bring in Shoebox gift for Blythswood Care.

Friday 16th November – Children in Need – children can wear spots with non-uniform for a suggested donation of 50p per family.

Friday 16th November – FrOGS Quiz – see posters on gates for more details.

Tuesday 20th November to 6pm and Thursday 22nd to 7pm – Parents’ Evenings – letter to follow at the start of next half term.

Friday 23rd November – ADVANCE NOTICE Victorian Day where all children and staff can dress up. Year 3 will be singing Victorian rhymes in the Market Square at 11am.
Friday 23rd November – Lantern Parade in the evening for the Christmas Lights switch on. Children will all have made lanterns at school but in the evening will need accompanying by an adult. Further details to follow after half term.

Friday 30th November – FrOGS Disco
5.15pm – 5.45pm Pre-School and Reception (Parents welcome to stay with younger ones)
6.00pm – 6.45pm Years 1 and 2
7.00pm – 8.00pm Years 3 and 4​

News Description
Proving learning can happen anywhere KS1 took their lessons out to the Market Square
No Pens Wednesday made us all think about our communication skills and how we speak and listen to those around us as we learn.
We all enjoyed walking together in Children's Carnival and our 50 umbrellas made a very colourful section to the parade.
