The Governing Body meets at least once a term, but usually more often. Governors have Standing Orders to follow; these are regulations and guidelines as to how the Governors fulfill their duties.

The governors have very wide ranging responsibilities; oversight of the curriculum and pupil attainment, performance of staff, the health and safety of all those using the school, the school's finances- and more. In practice, they delegate much of this to the Headteacher on a day to day basis, but work with the Headteacher and staff to set the direction of the school and the policies it operates within.
There are three main sub-committees that meet regularly to look at particular aspects of the school and its life, all Governors are involved in each of these sub-committees. These are:-

Curriculum (Chaired by Roger Evans)
This committee considers how the children are doing at the school; their attainment and achievements. It looks at a wide range of policies concerned with teaching and learning, pupil behaviour and the curriculum. Staff regularly attend these meetings to talk to governors about a particular subject or curriculum area.
Personnel (Chaired by Rev Nigel Done)
This is responsible for the hiring and conduct of all staff, and to look after their wellbeing. The committee helps to set the number of staff working at the school, within the budget allocated each year. It considers a wide range of policies to ensure that the school is doing its best for its pupils within the framework of employment legislation.
Finance and Buildings (Chaired by Louise Peachey)
This committee regularly reviews the way the school is spending its budget and considers whether 'best value' is being achieved. It ensures that the school operates within the finance policies set. The condition of the buildings and and grounds, as well as health and safety, are also regularly looked at.
