We are the County Council's music service, offering a wide range of services to Children and Young People across the county. 
 
Our service aims to inspire young people from all of Somerset to make music together, unlocking the musician within. We deliver music lessons to all group sizes and ensembles and arrange events, conferences, workshops and bespoke training for all your musical tuition needs.

Singing Strategy
 
We have a new offer for the Singing Strategy for Somerset for 2016/17 - please check the 'Singing Strategy' page for further details.
 
Somerset Music County Groups 
 
If you are interested in joining the Somerset County Youth Orchestra, Somerset County Youth Concert Band or the Somerset County Youth Choir please contact a member of the Somerset Music team on 01823 348262.
 
In addition the ***Somerset County Youth Show Choir ***  was launched in August 2015. This is run independently from the Somerset County Youth Choir and is for people who want to combine choral, close harmony singing with dance. 
 
 
Hestercombe Centre for Young Musicians
 
As a division of the Guildhall School - the centre provides a broad and comprehensive curriculum every Saturday providion access to excellence in the South West. Bursaries available for Somerset residents.
 
 
 
  Somerset County Council & Sound Foundation Somerset Christmas Concert
 
 
Our annual Christmas concert took place at Wells Cathedral on Monday 5 December 2016. A total of 38 schools and colleges from across Somerset took part either representing their own school/college or as part of the County Youth Orchestra, County Youth Choir and Show Choir and Cheddar Valley Voices.
 
It was a wonderful way to start the Christmas season and was very well attended. It was a real showcase for the talent of the young people of Somerset and Wells Cathedral provided a beautiful venue. Congratulations and thanks to all who took part.
