Dogs Trust Visit December 2017

On Monday 4th December, our class was visited by Helen and Tracker from Dogs Trust. They taught us about the cost of owning and keeping a dog. We learnt that it costs about £1400 to keep a dog for a year! This was very different to our guesses. We had lots of maths to work out through the session, but we had a great time!

Synagogue Visit November 2017

Dragon Class went to visit a Synagogue in Bristol as part of their learning about Judaism this term. The children enjoyed the visit and were interested to learn that the modern, Progressive Jewish Congregation have mixed male/female worship and often have women leading the Prayer and Worship sessions. We were shown the large scroll Torah and the Ark in which it is kept. We were also allowed to explore the printed Torah books which were written in both Hebrew and English. The children were fascinated to learn that Hebrew is written from right to left on the page stemming from the time it was originally carved in stone! This was a wonderful learning experience for the children who especially liked trying on the Kippah and Tallit worn by Jews during prayer.
