Curriculum is more than just reading, writing and arithmetic. The curriculum at St Louis involves everything from sports to science, from computing to life skills. We have created a curriculum to maximise learning and present a high degree of challenge.

In line with the National Curriculum, pupils are taught subjects which are placed in the following categories.

English, Maths, Science, RE, Computing.

The Foundation subjects are: History, Geography, Music, Science, PE, Computing, Art & Design and Technology. As of 2014 the new National Curriculum is fully in place. A Modern Foreign Language is statutory and St. Louis' will be teaching Spanish to all Key Stage 2 children. These subjects have their own programmes of study and methods of assessment and recording children’s work have been developed.  Whenever possible cross-curricular approaches are encouraged.

Personal, Social and Health Education and Computing are incorporated into all areas of the curriculum.

Religious Education

As a voluntary aided Roman Catholic School the basic religious ethos is to be found across the whole

curriculum and not just within the RE timetable

The whole aim of the school is the Christian growth of the children, not simply their growth in Faith but their growing awareness of the world as a maturing Christian.

The school will foster in children respect for the value of their own culture and the culture of others and help them to live harmoniously in society.

Racism and racial prejudice will be challenged with positive attitudes.

As a school we have adopted the Diocesan Scheme “God Matters”. The beliefs and values studied in Catholic religious education inspire and draw together every aspect of the life of the Catholic School.

School Masses

Father Richard comes to our school regularly to say School Mass. All pupils and staff attend. Parents and Parishioners are most welcome to attend. Key Stage 2 pupils serve at the altar and perform bidding prayers and readings throughout the mass.
